air-zim-ma.jpgAir Zimbabwe flights are still grounded as reports filter in that the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructure Development is yet to avail funds it under took to provide last Friday.

It is almost a week after the Ministry under took the responsibility of offsetting Air Zimbabwe’s debt.

However, while there is speculation that flights might resume during this weekend or early next week, the funds are yet to be released.

Some unconfirmed reports from the national airline indicate that the national carrier wants to pay its workers what they are owed then pilots are supposed to sign new contracts based on the hours they would have flown.

On Tuesday, Air Zimbabwe management called all workers back to work by sending text messages promising that their salaries will be paid on Wednesday but to date nothing has been effected.

Efforts to get a comment were fruitless as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development, who is said to be dealing with the issue, referred all questions to the Minister.

However, the Minister’s phone went unanswered.
