The Department of Agritex has roped in schools in its plant health awareness programme to effectively monitor and control the new fall armyworm and other pests.

‘Catch them Young’ is the motto spearheaded by the plant research services division in an exercise that has seen schools strategically targeted to improve plant health awareness.

The belief is school pupils have sharper minds hence it is prudent to involve them in all plant health awareness programmes.

Participating pupils expressed their excitement to be part of the exercise.

Some of the schools included on the initiative include George Silundika Primary and Secondary, St James Primary and Zimdabule Primary among others.
