psl preview 23.07.10.jpgIt will be an action packed weekend on the continental stage as Zimbabwe’s representatives in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup, FC Platinum, Hwange and Motor Action seek to get vital wins to kick start their campaigns.

The action will begin on Saturday with Motor Action taking on Black Leopards of South Africa at Peter Makoba Stadium in Polokwane.

The Mighty Bulls will be out to secure a first leg as they take on the same opponents a fort-night later.

Their opponents Black Leopards have Sunday Chidzambwa as the technical adviser, while former Warriors players Kingstone Nkatha and Zvenyika Makonese are also in the side.

While Motor Action has a tricky assignment, Hwange appears to have an easier road to the first round when they take on Jamhuri Football Club of Zanzibar in its first encounter in the CAF Confederations Cup this Saturday.

The coal miners will have to draw inspiration from Monomotapa who in 2009 beat another team from the same island, Mafunzo FC in the CAF Champions League.

Monos went on to reach the mini-league phase of the Champions League.

Hwange acquired six players to boost their squad.

On Sunday, FC Platinum will announce their arrival on the continental stage when they take on Green Mambas of Swaziland in their preliminary round first leg tie away at Somhlolo Stadium.

It will be the first time Zimbabwe’s 2011 League Runners Up will be venturing into the African Safari.

FC Platinum who were pipped by Dynamos to the league crown last season have overhauled their squad and now have in their ranks quality players such as Allen Gahadzikwa, Qadir Amini and Gilbert Banda, among others.

Green Mambas are under the tutelage of former Dynamos coach, Lloyd Mutasa.
