The Acting President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has visited the Msika residence in Harare to console the family following the death of Gogo Maria Msika this Friday (today) morning.

The Acting President said Gogo Msika played a pivotal role during the armed struggle and supported the family while her husband was in political detention.

Cde Mnangagwa also described the late Gogo Msika as a humble mother who offered sound advice that contributed to social and economic development of the nation.

Gogo Msika is reported to have been on life support for a long time.

Meanwhile, the Acting President has advised the family that he is waiting for guidance from President Robert Mugabe who is attending the 72nd UN General Assembly in New York.

Government ministers, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi, Dr Chris Mushohwe, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda, Commander Defence Forces General Constantino Chiwenga, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Perrence Shiri, Commander of the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, Retired Major General Paradzai Zimondi and Deputy Minister Abigirl Damasani were among the delegation which visited the Msika family.
