Christian denominations under the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) say they support the enactment of an act of parliament governing church operations to deal with conflicts affecting some denominations among other challenges.
ACCZ moderator Archbishop Johannes Ndanga said the crafting of an act of parliament governing the operations of the church is being well received by most denominations especially in the work of conflicts and divisions affecting their operations.
Archbishop Ndanga said there is consensus within the ACCZ that the patron of all denominations be President Robert Mugabe.
He was speaking at the St Luke Apostolic Ejwel Jekenisheni women’s conference held in Chipinge.
Leader of the St Luke Apostolic Ejwel Jekenisheni Archbishop Philip Pferedzai Matarika said he and his congregants welcome the enactment of a separate law governing the operations of the church.
He said Jekenisheni members will register as voters and vote for President Mugabe because of his visionary leadership.
The church’s Ruwadzano chair lady Rumbidzai Magweregwede said members are focused on women empowerment and promoting strong family ties.
Meanwhile, the church is planning to construct a vocational training centre in Chipinge as part of empowerment initiatives.
