Three people were killed in two separate road traffic accidents on the same spot in Banket last night.
The first accident involved a Honda Fit that was hit from behind by a haulage truck which the driver was trying to overtake.
The Honda Fit prematurely returned to the left lane as he tried to avoid a head on collision with an oncoming car.
A 13 year old girl was killed in the process after she crashed onto the tarmac upon impact.
Two other people, a Banket-based policeman and a motorist who had rushed to the scene of the first accident to assist were ran over by yet another haulage truck while they were rendering assistance to the victims.
Police spokesman for Mashonaland West Inspector Clemence Mabweazara said an unlicenced tout identified only as James, was behind the wheel in the Honda Fit, and ran away from the scene following the accident.
He is still at large.
