accident2.jpg65 lives have so far been lost whilst 818 people were injured on the country’s roads in 825 accidents during this festive season.

Police Spokesperson Chief Superintendent Oliver Mandipaka said the major cause of the accidents is human error mainly in the form of poor judgment and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Harare Metropolitan Province recorded 346 accidents which is the highest.
Chief Superitendant Mandipaka urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
He said police will increase the number of roadblocks and intensify motorised patrols, adding that motorists are expected to co-operate with the police at roadblocks for their safety.
This year surpased 2009’s total deaths of 42, raising concern on the increased carnage on the country’s roads.
