ac milan logo.jpgZimbabwe will next month begin scouting for football talent within the country’s ten province as renowned football powerhouse, AC Milan, spreads its wings into the country under the world wide scholarship academy.

WWS Sport Administrator Tours, Nyasha Vuta, says scouting for this year’s three tours, namely the AC Milan Soccer Cup, the Basketball Cavaliers Cup as well as the Penn Relays will start with a combined camp where coaches will have a chance to access the talent on the offing.

“The scouting of talent for the three tours will see us organising a combined camp for all provinces where coaches for athletics, soccer, basketball and tennis will gauge the talent in Zimbabwe before real camping for the tours will begin sometime in March,” he said.

Apart from realising the potential in sport, Mira Zec, the Head of Scholarship in the programme, says the academy has a new dimension as it will provide academic scholarships to deserving Ordinary and Advanced Level students with good passes.

He said, “Apart from the sports scholarships, we will be open for purely academic scholarships until the 7th of February, where we are also looking for students with good leadership qualities and with good results, that is A’s in English, Science and Mathematics.

Lucky students will have the chance to win a scholarship to learn in the States.”

60 athletes including Gabriel Mvumvure, Brighton Makusha and Lewis Banda have benefited from the academy in the past.
