Girls out-performed boys in the November 2018 Zimbabwe Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) Advanced Level examinations, recording an 87.4% pass rate.
This was revealed by ZIMSEC Board Chairman, Professor Eddie Mwenje when he announced the release of the results during a media briefing in Harare today.
Of the 45570 candidates who wrote two or more subjects, 18 624 females out of a total number of 18 842 passed with 2 or more subjects, translating to an 87.2% pass rate compared to 82.2% of male students who passed.
Professor Mwenje said this year’s overall pass rate stands at 81.9%
1 566 candidates who wrote 3 or more subjects obtained 15 points and above, translating to 3.7%, however a drop from 5.3% recorded in 2017.
Centre heads are being advised to start collecting the results from ZIMSEC regional offices beginning this Tuesday.
