Efforts to market the Eastern Highlands have been taken a notch up with organisers of the Miss Tourism Manicaland modelling show announcing that auditions for the pageant will be held this month.

Organisers of the modelling show said auditions for the event, to be held at the end of the month are expected to have new talent being unearthed as they are on a mission to scout for a worthy representative in the province.

The modelling showcase slated for the 2nd of June seeks to highlight the unique tourism attractions the Eastern Highlands is endowed with, notes provincial license holder for the Miss Tourism Manicaland 2018, Mrs Caroline Marufu-Buwu.

“The pageant aims to showcase the history, culture, traditions as well as increasing the public sector participation in the funding of the tourism sector. The event will also open vast opportunities for young designers, beauticians, fashion photographers and models,” she said.

During their preparation of duties as tourism ambassadors, the beauty queens will visit some of the provinces notable tourism sites to learn about the different facets of the sector, which they are expected to share with different communities, thus enhancing domestic tourism.

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe is a pageant which is not only about beauty, but to find a true tourism ambassador for Zimbabwe and to promote projects for the girl child with the national event set to be held in Harare later in the year.
