Zimbabwe horticultural produce private companies enjoy successful Fruit Logistica 2018 Exhibition Expo in Berlin, Germany this week as the country’s re-engagement process makes considerable penetration across the globe.
11 Zimbabwean companies and Zimbabwe’s trade promotion body, Zimtrade, attended the Fruit Logistica, Europe’s biggest fresh produce expo that took place in Berlin, Germany this week.
Fruit Logistica this year featured 3 100 exhibitors from across the fresh produce supply chain, including growers, packers, transporters, processers and retailers.
75 000 visitors attended the show.
For Zimbabwean horticultural companies, Fruit Logistica presents a golden opportunity to meet with Europe’s biggest buyers and lock in orders worth millions of dollars that will see the country’s foreign currency base boosted as they market Zimbabwean produce to the world.
The exporting of horticultural produce was identified as a quick-win area for economic recovery by the new administration under the new economic order on the stewardship of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
As such, Zimtrade has been working with local producers to improve production levels and to find new markets regionally and internationally.
