The Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe has embarked on massive fruit tree budding and grafting training to its staff members.

The Forestry Commission said it has started its budding and grafting programme of fruit trees to meet their target of planting more than 5 million for the 2017 national tree planting programme.

Commission’s information and communication manager Ms Violate Makoto said they have embarked on a five year fruit tree growing programme done in different phases.

Staff members who went under a three-day training course in tree budding and grafting, expressed gratitude for undertaking the programme and promised to impart the knowledge to farmers in different provinces.

The commission set itself a target to plant 15 million trees nationally and so far more than 7 million trees have been planted.
