coltart.jpgThe 8th edition of the Zimbabwe National Youth Games to be hosted by Harare Metropolitan Province in August was officially launched.
The launch was held amid high expectations that Harare metropolitan province will set high standards when it hosts the games for the very first time.
 The patron of the games, Governor and Resident Minister of Harare Metropolitan Province Cde David Karimanzira said the local organizing committee of the games is working around the clock in an endeavour to ensure that the games will be a resounding success.


In a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s office, Gorden Moyo and guest of honour Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai expressed confidence that the games will be successfully staged despite challenges that might be experienced.


Education, Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Senator David Coltart said the Zimbabwe National Youth Games are important in that they present the best possible platform for young sports persons to prove their sporting worth.


The 8th edition of the Zimbabwe National Youth Games, which will see over 5000 young athletes showcasing their sporting prowess in 8 sporting disciplines, will be hosted by the Harare Metropolitan province from the 15th to the 22nd of August.
Harare province has won all the previous editions of the youth games and this year’s edition presents an opportunity for the same province to host and win the sporting fiesta which will be held under the theme “Games with a difference”.
