Minister of Defence Dr Sydney Sekeramayi has conferred certificates to a total of 44 graduands junior staff officers at a graduation ceremony held at the Zimbabwe Staff College today.
Speaking during the 68th junior staff course graduation, Dr Sekeramayi said the course attained by the officers enable them to deal with greater challenges in their military careers.
He added that among other roles defence forces should provide a conducive environment for the development of the country.
One of the graduands Captain Xolani Mkandla from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces said the knowledge attained will enable them to handle peace support operations and deal with asymmetric and conventional threats.
Meanwhile, 5 outstanding graduands were presented merit awards for excelling during the course.
Of the 44 graduands, 33 are from the Zimbabwe National Army officers, 2 from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, 2 from the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, 2 from Air Force of Zimbabwe and one each from Lesotho, Malawi, Nigeria, Swaziland and Tanzania.
