The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) vehicle theft squad has arrested four motor vehicle robbers who have been terrorising taxi drivers by stealing valuables.

Those who have been nabbed are Partson Chimutove, Brian Handirade, Joseph  Billiat and Aloius Chivinda, with the quartet facing five counts of robbery as defined in Section 126 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9:23.

In a statement, CID acting principal community relations and liaison officer detective Assistant Inspector Portia Chinho said they have noted with great concern an upsurge in robbery of motor vehicles during the period extending from the 1st to the 28th of June this year.

“The department will not fold hands while criminals wreak havoc in our beloved country,” she said.

Taxi operators have also been warned of the so called hiring clients who would want to entice them by offering more than the usual charges and rob them in the process.
