Six suspected diamond dealers from Mutare have appeared in court after being found in possession of 32 pieces of diamonds.

Tonderai Chitonya  (29),  Tonderai Sazunza (40), Percy Mahate (37), Brighton Pararai (35),  Robert Sabiti (40), and Dinary Chitonya (29) appeared before Mutare Magistrate, Lazarus Murendo facing charges of dealing in or possessing diamonds without a license.

It is the state’s case that on the 12th of this month, police acting on a tip-off intercepted the six in Mutare’s Central Business District.

The six were arrested upon discovery of 32 pieces of diamonds in a vehicle they were travelling in.

They were remanded to 3 October on $500 bail each.
