The government says the 2nd command agriculture season has registered tremendous success which has guaranteed the country’s food security.
Following the success of the programme in its first season, the government says the second season has also registered tremendous success which will see the country having food reserves.
The Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement, Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri, who was represented by Director in the ministry, Mr Benard Mache told farmers and other stakeholders at a command agriculture field day at Makunde farm in Murewa that command agriculture has produced tangible results which have guaranteed food security.
Mashonaland East Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs, Cde David Musabayana urged the farmers to continue working hard to produce enough food for the country.
The farm has 120 hectares of maize under command agriculture and another 40 hectares of seed maize grown by a private contractor.
