Zimbabwe will take 26 companies drawn across various sectors of the economy to Egypt for the maiden Intra-African Trade Fair running from the 11th to the 17th of this month.
Intra-Africa trade remains critically low at 15 percent when compared to other intra-continental trade where Europe accounts for 59 percent, Asia 51 percent, and North America 37 percent.
Under this scenario it is important for Africa to coordinate efforts to increase intra-trade.
Head of Zimbabwe delegation, Industry and Commerce Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu said they are going to explore business and investment opportunities presented by other African markets as well as to share trade and market information with stakeholders to identify solutions to address the challenges affecting trade.
The trade fair will greatly help Africa as a block to build synergies and economies of scale to have economic stamina to wade off competition from other continents.
Afreximbank is bankrolling the trade fair to create, connect and deliver opportunities for socio-economic development of Africa.
