Tobacco production: TIMB targets 40 000 ha

Tobacco farmers have so far accessed inputs which cover over 10 000 hectares as the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) intensifies distribution in various parts of the country. US$292.4m windfall for exporters

Zimbabwe’s exporters have pocketed a total of US$292.4 million during the first half of the year from incentives unveiled by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe to boost local production.                      Gold producers are the biggest beneficiaries of the incentives on the back of a rise in exports, according to the central bank latest data.                       The rise in the production of the yellow metal has seen producers getting US$139.5 million from the incentives.                        Tobacco growers have pocketed a total of US$87.5 million from the incentives  while Diaspora remittances which are also playing a critical role in capital inflows have also benefitted...

Gweru typhoid update: Vendors ordered off CBD

The government and the Gweru City Council have put together measures to contain the typhoid outbreak with vendors in the central business district of Gweru being ordered out of the city until the outbreak has been contained. Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa says the situation in Gweru is still not pleasing and expressed deep concern over the continued fluctuating typhoid cases being recorded. Acting Pres Chiwenga tours ARDA Antelope

Acting President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga has arrived at ARDA Antelope Estate in Maphisa, Matobo District, to appreciate operations at the facility. He is accompanied by Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement Minister Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri. The body of the late national heroine Cde Thokozile Mathuthu has arrived in Bulawayo for a church service before it is flown to Harare for burial at the national shrine on Sunday.
