National Youth, Paralympic Games postponed

The National Youth and Paralympic Games which were scheduled for Midlands Province from the 15th to the 25th of this month have been postponed to December. In a statement to the ZBC News, Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) Acting Director General Joseph Muchechetere said the games were postponed after a typhoid outbreak in Gweru adding that action has been taken to avoid putting the  lives of athletes and officials at risk. The Grammy-winning popular soul singer Aretha Franklin is reportedly seriously ill in Detroit, United States of America. The 76 year old Franklin is known in the music circles as the Queen of Soul. Aretha’s family and friends who are currently by her side are appealing for prayers from fans and friends. The Grammy-winning singer is reportedly down to 86 pounds, and her health is failing. Bubi Gold Processing Center nearing completion

The Bubi Small Scale Gold Miners Processing Center that was commissioned by Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga is shaping up with the installation of machinery nearing completion. A visit to the project site by the ZBC News showed that the installation of hummer mills and crushers is almost complete in all the units while the electrification plant is ready to take off. Zimbabwe’s capital markets regulatory authorities plan to introduce more global trading systems to improve the capital inflows.  Zimbabwe’s capital markets are currently lagging behind in terms of capital attraction with regulatory authorities pushing for more reforms by introducing global capital markets trading policies. 2018 fire season worrisome

The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) says it has recorded a 16.8 percent increase of hectarage of land lost due to veld fires since the beginning of the 2018 fire season. From its onset on the 31st of July, the 2018 fire season has already recorded worrisome figures showing a 16.8 percent rise in hectarage of land lost which translates to 69 958 hectares lost in 232 veld fire incidents against last year’s 58 193 hectares recorded in 147 incidents.
