PRC launches election manifesto

The People’s Rainbow Coalition (PRC) yesterday launched its 2018 election manifesto at Dotito business centre in Mashonaland Central province. All five political parties under the PRC banner namely, National People’s Party (NPP), People’s Democratic Party(PDP) led by Lucia Matibenga, Zimbabwe Economic Freedom Fighters (ZEFF), Zimbabwe United for Democracy (ZUNDE) and Democratic Assembly for Restoration and Empowerment (DARE) gathered for the launch of their 2018 election manifesto. Banks are focusing on increasing the uptake of financial products by women through reviewing lending terms and conditions for opening bank accounts. Information released at a women excel conference indicate that men are dominating banking sector accounts, loans, savings and products. Vic Falls receives fire tender

Victoria Falls municipality has become the latest local authority to benefit from the nationwide ‘Mudzimi Wemoto Campaign,’ spear-headed by benefactor, Peter Lobel and Bakers Inn to capacitate local authorities’ civil protection preparedness through the donation of fire tenders and other related assets. Victoria Falls town, whose civil protection department is currently facing challenges owing to an old fleet, got a major boost as businessman Mr Lobel in partnership with a local confectionary company handed over a state-of-the-art fire tender to the local authority. The 9000 litres fire tanker is expected to strengthen the Victoria Falls Civil Protection and mitigate against the loss of human life and property during fire outbreaks and other disasters. Victoria Falls Mayor, Mr Sifiso Mpofu said they welcome the gesture and announced that on its part, the local authority has prioritised securing an ambulance and fire command vehicle in order to enhance efficiency of the civil protection unit as well as to enhance service delivery. “We are grateful to Mr Lobel and Bakers Inn for the gesture which will certainly go a long way in enhancing service delivery and strengthening the civil protection unit,” he said. Zimbabwe is set to take the investment attraction campaign to Toronto, Canada, where a symposium is scheduled for this June. Zim targets 85t per annum gold output

Zimbabwe is targeting annual gold output of 85 tonnes per annum by 2023 as part of the national mining vision and is set to operationalise gold service centres across the country from July 2018. Total gold output in 2017 stood at 26.5 tonnes, representing a 14% increase from 2016 figure of 23.2 tonnes. ARDA attracts investors

State owned Agriculture and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) has attracted new investors that are expected to inject fresh capital and improve productivity. Most ARDA estates are lying idle, owing to viability challenges arising from limited funding. Mushamukadzi Trust descended on Kanyemba where the National Chairperson, Mrs Marry Chiwenga distributed 14 sewing machines to women in the area to begin self help projects.
