Considering the country’s huge conferencing facilities, a call has been made for the tourism sector to benchmark its growth on conferencing which has the capacity to improve its revenue growth.

Zimbabwe has various conference facilities which are capable of hosting large events both regional and international but over the years these facilities have remained underutilised.

Facilities such as Zimbabwe Agricultural Society and the ZITF Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo testify to this.

The country is ready to implement the conferencing and exhibition strategy to further promote its destinations.

Gauteng Convention Bureau chief executive officer Ms Nonnie Kubeka called for collaboration between the authority and the private sector to promote the meetings, conferences, incentives and exhibitions initiative.

The meetings, incentives conferences and exhibitions (MICE) strategy was adopted in 2013 to develop and promote tourism in the country through income generation and foreign investment.
