The people of Mudzi say President Emmerson Mnangagwa must advance the farming programme he began under the Command Agriculture Programme last year by increasing input distribution for more rural communities.

Mudzi district is one of the ruling Zanu PF party’s strongholds, with its relationship with the revolutionary party dating back to the days of the armed struggle.

Situated 300km from Harare, Nyahunu area in Nyakadecha on the border between Zimbabwe and Mozambique is one of the remotest parts of the country and the people there rarely get to know what happens outside their area.

However, news of the coming in of President Mnangagwa reached them and now their immediate request to him is to aid them with farming inputs so that 2017 can be a good farming season for them.

Some acknowledged that their area could be in the remote parts but they too want to be associated with their president.

There is a positive vibe that Cde Mnangagwa will revive the fortunes of many rural communities by advancing programmes that also centre on this demographic sector which has in the past been left out.
