Two people died in separate drowning incidents inside two weeks as cases of drowning present a major concern in Chipinge.

Barely a fortnight after another report of drowning was recorded Chipinge residents were plunged back into mourning after a form 2 pupil Blessed Mhlanga drowned yesterday.

Family members had to spend the night on the edge of Kabanga dam waiting for the young boy’s body to be retrieved.

The ZRP Sub-Aqua Unit from Birchenough was only able to retrieve the body mid morning today.

Swimming was part of his hobby but tragedy struck him on the fateful Tuesday (yesterday) lamented Blessed’s aunt Mercy Mhlanga.

Residents however raised concern over the increasing cases of drowning at Kabanga dam which has so far claimed more than four people.

The drowning case comes barely two weeks after another case occurred at Bangazani dam.
