A call has been made for tertiary institutions to adopt policies that guide in dealing with sexual harassment which continues to be on the increase.

Female Students Network Trust Executive Director, Ms Evernice Munando said commemorations on the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence should provide a moment to introspect on the realities of sexual harassment in tertiary institutions which have been worsened by economic challenges.

“Increased engagement and awareness is needed at all levels to ensure that sexual harassment cases are reported and perpetrators prosecuted,” she said.

According to the Female Students Network Trust report to the parliament in February this year, an average of 74% of female students experience sexual harassment at universities in Zimbabwe.
