The Matabeleland South organising committee for the 2017 Zanu PF National People’s Conference has maintained the event will be held in Gwanda and an estimated US$6.4 million will be required to spruce up the conference venue and accommodation facilities.
The local organising committee for the 2017 Zanu PF National People’s Conference has continued to meet and submit reports on progress that has been made so far ahead of the event set for December.
According to the chairperson of the organising sub-committee, Cde Richard Ndlovu, US$6.4 million will be needed to spruce up the conference venue as well as improve infrastructure at Epoch Mine in Filabusi where 4000 delegates will be accommodated.
Zanu PF provincial chairman Cde Rabelani Choene maintained that Gwanda remains the venue for this year’s conference while the Minister of State for Matabeleland South Province who is also the chairperson of the fundraising committee urged various committees to move with speed as the event is less than two months away.
The unity of purpose and dedication to duty that has always prevailed in the province should continue was the message from Zanu PF Politburo member, Cde Simon Khaya-Moyo.
At least 15 000 delegates are expected to descend in the province in December for the conference.
10 committees have been constituted to prepare and mobilise resources for the successful hosting of the event.
