The Presidents’ Fund has rescued the 25 families whose houses were burnt by fire in Mt Hampden few kilometres outside Harare.

Vice chairperson of the President’s Fund Mrs Getrude Chikwava reaffirmed their commitment to the provision of basic social services to the needy.

About 25 families were left homeless after fire destroyed their houses and other valuables. 

After hearing the plight of the affected families, the President’s Fund mobilised resources to help the victims.

The donation comprises a two roomed cabin, groceries and some utensils.

The residents live in a haphazard condition and the legislator for the constituency Cde Francis Mukwangwariwa proposes relocation of the residents as a lasting solution.

Government is obliged to put in place measures to ensure every citizen has descent accommodation.
