Five people were killed yesterday evening along the Roy, Zaka road while 6 others were injured after a bus they were travelling in overturned close to Phelilendaba Business Centre.
The bus which was carrying members of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC), who were on their way from Masvingo to Chiredzi is said to have overturned after the driver tried to avoid a head on collision with a haulage truck that was overtaking a broken down truck at a blind spot.
Eye witnesses told the ZBC News that the bus veered off the road and fell into a valley where upon it rolled twice killing 4 people on the spot.
Villagers who live close to the accident scene said the Phelilendaba curve has become a dangerous spot.
Fellow ZCC members who were in another bus said they arrived at the scene and found the deceased and the injured being pulled from the wreckage.
Zimbabwe Republic Police national spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the accident and highlighted that the 5th person died at Chiredzi district hospital where the injured had been rushed.
The names of the deceased are yet to be released.
