Sport and Recreation Minister Makhosini Hlongwane says more needs to be done to ensure that all sport and recreation facilities meet high performance demands for paralympics.
Addressing guests at the 29th edition of the Danhiko annual paralympic games at Danhiko Project in Harare, Minister Hlongwane said by providing the necessary facilities government ensures that it is being practical to respect disabled persons dignity and accord them their right to equal treatment in society.
He said the government aims at promoting mass community participation in sport and recreation through the community sport and recreation club system aimed at instituting the idea of establishing organised sport in previously disadvantaged communities.
The community sport and recreation club system integrates previously marginalised talent into mainstream sport and recreation activities of the nation.
Minister Hlongwane said Danhiko games have continued to be a source of human capital for Team Zimbabwe selection for regional and international sport and recreation.
