The Zimbabwe Republic Police has castigated perpetrators of child abuse while calling on all sectors of society to collaborate in ending the vice.

Creating a conducive environment for children to excel in their academic work came under spotlight at the 12th edition of the ZRP police primary schools merit awards aimed at recognising those who excelled in 2016.

In a speech read on his behalf by the police Deputy Commissioner General Operations Innocent Matibiri, Police Commissioner General Dr Augustine Chihuri commended the force’s education department for producing high achievers, while calling for increased efforts to protect children from abuse.

Police schools from across the countrywide were honoured with pupils who attained four units at grade 7 also awarded for their achievements while teachers and headmasters also received prizes.
