State entities have become a liability to the government which has no fiscal space to finance them amid concern that the entities are being mismanaged. Hi-tech farming equipment school opens in Chinhoyi

As government intensifies efforts to return Zimbabwe to its breadbasket status, a school for training farmers in the use of advanced hi-tech farming equipment has been opened in Chinhoyi. The institution which is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe teaches farmers how to use mechanised agricultural implements. Cde Magwenga buried

The late Cde Jane Magwenga who died on Monday and was accorded liberation war hero status has been buried at the Harare Provincial Heroes Acre. The late Cde Magwenga whose Chimurenga name was Cde Venencia Magamba has been described as a true cadre who fought tirelessly to liberate this country.  Family spokesperson Mr Benson Sioniya described his sister as a unifier both in party politics and in her family. Director in the Minister of State for Harare Province Mr Ignatius Mungure said the rich history of Cde Magwenga reflects a true cadre who worked hard to see her country liberated from the colonial bondage. Born in 1960 in Chimanimani Manicaland Province, Cde Magwenga went to Tilbury Primary School. She was exposed to politics at a young age when she crossed to Mozambique in 1975. She received her military training at Pungwe specialising in guerrilla warfare and war nursing and operated as a medic under Detachment B in Buhera. At independence she was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army until her retirement in 1983 before joining the Ministry of Health as a medical assistant in Mashonaland East Province. Seamless services set for Mat South

Queasier government institutions in the telecommunications sector have committed their institutions to providing a seamless service to communities in Gwanda South and the entire Matabeleland South Province. The commitment to provide cellular phone services to the Gwanda South community was made by the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Cde Supa Mandiwanzira when he addressed people at Manama business centre. He said it is the duty of the Postal and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) to invest the universal services fund in providing telecommunication services infrastructure and build at least 250 base stations in the country some of which will be in Matabeleland South. He further committed his ministry to establish a community information centre at Manama business centre for the benefit of the rural community saying it is the vision of President Robert Mugabe to see rural communities accessing information technology services.
