ADB commits to African development

The African Development Bank (ADB) is committed to ensuring that the continent attains economic development. The bank’s Senior Director in charge of special projects, Dr Sipho Moyo made the remarks during the Dr Joshua Nkomo memorial lecture in Gwanda. Black empowerment lobby group, Affirmative Action Group (AAG) held its 2017 national consultative assembly in Kadoma, with the leadership re-affirming the organisation’s principles of promoting wealth for the disadvantaged people. The Mashonaland Central Province Presidential Youth Interface rally will be held on Saturday 9 September at the Bindura golf course. Skills training programme for Lupane youths

A local organisation, Lupane Women’s Development Trust has embarked on a youth skills training programme with the aim of equipping them with skills to generate revenue for themselves. The youth skills development programme kicked off in June and runs for six weeks with 10 participants from one ward at a time. The second group of participants will begin their skills development programme this month and will be picked from a different ward. SADC hands over 4 clinics to govt

The SADC secretariat has handed over four cross border wellness clinics to the government of Zimbabwe as the regional bloc targets to reduce HIV prevalence among long-distance truck drivers from the current 20 percent. Most border towns across the country are synonymous with mobile population groups who include commercial sex workers and truck drivers. The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) on Saturday hosted its annual fun shoot at Cleveland shooting range in Harare. Civilians had an opportunity of learning to shoot, while for some, it was a matter of fine tuning their skills. Transparency and fairness in implementing community sports and recreation club systems have been cited as pre-requisites for the country to drive maximum value from the country’s new sports policy initiative. Zim darts tourney team leaves for SA

The Zimbabwe junior darts team had a big send off on Saturday ahead of their participation at the Zone 6 darts championships to be held in Germinston in South Africa. The team leaves South Africa this Sunday afternoon. Sports and Recreation High Performance Manager, Martin Dururu hailed the progress darts is making in developing the sport.
