Zanu PF Midlands Province and other stakeholders held their last preparatory meeting at the venue of the 7th Presidential Youth Interface Rally this Wednesday in Gweru.

The leadership emphasised on the need to maintain discipline and safe movement of people coming for the rally.

With the province now ready for the event, all necessary requirements are now on standby with over 100 buses, 181 lorries, 136 omnibuses and train transport mobilised to ferry people to the venue.

A bumper crowd of more than 100 000 people is expected to attend.

In his presentation during their final preparatory meeting, the chairpersons of the sub committees assured the party leadership and the Midlands Minister of State, Cde Jason Machaya that everything is now in place and ready for the big day.

Speaking during the meeting, Foreign Affairs Minister, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi said mobilisation of resources should continue and urged the province to host the best interface rally ever.

Cde Machaya also hammered on the need for accountability on all mobilised resources.

Zanu PF Midlands youth chairperson, Cde Prosper Machando expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for their level of commitment and called on the youths to exercise discipline on the day.

After the final preparatory meeting at the venue, youths who were in a celebratory mood and other stakeholders, embarked on a clean-up exercise around the city of Gweru and Zimpost area where President Mugabe will officially open a provincial information centre.

Zanu PF Youth National Secretary for External Affairs, who is also the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Cde Annastancia Ndlovu said the interface is an opportunity for youths to interact and celebrate with their iconic leader, Cde Mugabe.

Police also confirmed that they are on standby to ensure safe movement of people to and from the venue and warned transporters against using defective vehicles.

Midlands Provincial Medical Director, Dr Simon Nyadundu told the leadership that his team has mobilised eight ambulances, 118 nurses and four medical doctors, who will be on site.

The President has already been to Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland West, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provinces, and Midlands will be the seventh province to host the President.

When the ZBC News visited the venue, Mkoba open space in the morning, workmen were putting final touches on the VIP tents, while roads leading to the venue had all been spruced up.
