Govt embarks on drive to develop chess

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has collaborated with the Africa Chess Confederation (ACC) and World Chess Federation (WCF) in a move expected to develop chess in Zimbabwean schools from grassroots level. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora said the partnership will ensure smooth implementation of the new curriculum in the area of chess and its development in schools. ACC president Lewis Ncube commended Zimbabwe for including sports in the curriculum saying it is an achievement worth celebrating and should be emulated by other countries. Women’s Bank to start operations in October               

A Zimbabwe Women’s Bank is expected to start operations in October as the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) edges closer in granting operating permit to the institution.            The Women in Business Forum held in the capital on Tuesday (today) created a platform on modalities to ensure women take part in mainstream business activities. RBZ deputy governor, Dr Jesimeni Chipika told the ZBC News on the sidelines of the forum, central bank authorities are at an advanced stage to approve the establishment of a Women’s Bank paving way for its establishment by October.              ...
