Low voter turnout characterised the Nyanga South ward 19 by-election with election results expected later in the day.
All the five polling stations opened on time at exactly 7 o’clock in the morning to give the Nyanga South electorate an opportunity to choose their local government representative.
Voting has already ended and counting is underway.
Two candidates, Zanu PF is represented by Cde George John Mukoto and Judith Chigwanda is an independent candidate, are battling for supremacy.
There were, however, no long queues in most of the polling stations.
In an interview, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Acting Manicaland Provincial Elections Officer, Mr Thomson Tichaona Chiwereweshe said the election process went on smoothly with no incidences reported in the ward.
The interviewed electorate commended ZEC for professional work.
The Nyanga South ward 19 local government seat fell vacant after the death of Mr Zanda Muchadenyika.
