National Youth Games end in Hwange

The rebranded National Youth Games have ended in Hwange with the government expressing satisfaction with the inclusion of communities in the competition structure. The games included five virtual sport and recreation provinces namely: the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Zimbabwe Republic Police, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, agricultural colleges as well as the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union.  The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Makhosini Hongwane said his ministry is working around the clock to ensure that they eliminate any impediments that are suppressing the development of sports and recreation in the country. Nurse educators threaten strike

Nurse managers and nurse educators have issued the Health Services Board with a 14-day ultimatum to resolve pending issues concerning their conditions of service, failure of which they will down tools. The Health Services Board and health workers met on Friday in Harare to engage on critical issues concerning nurse managers and nurse educators’ condition of service. President Robert Mugabe has warned people to desist from the tendency of attributing every sickness to witchcraft, saying it is lack of ideological clarity. Kombi crash kills 4 in Harare

Four  people died this morning when a commuter omnibus they were travelling in from the city centre towards Glen Norah went through a red traffic light along Simon Mazorodze Road and collided with a lorry that was turning right at the intersection of Simon Mazorodze Road and Daniel Street turn off into Mbare National. Low voter turnout at Nyanga council by-election

Low voter turnout characterised the Nyanga South ward 19 by-election with election results expected later in the day. All the five polling stations opened on time at exactly 7 o’clock in the morning to give the Nyanga South electorate an opportunity to choose their local government representative. Voting has already ended and counting is underway. Two candidates, Zanu PF is represented by Cde George John Mukoto and Judith Chigwanda is an independent candidate, are battling for supremacy. There were, however, no long queues in most of the polling stations.
