The Silozwe community in Matobo district some 78 km outside Bulawayo have raised an SOS signal for government to consider providing them with communication signal and health services.
Less than an hour’s drive from Zimbabwe’s second capital city Bulawayo lies the Silozwe business center with it bustling activity and infrastructural development that paints a picture of a society content.
An interrogation of this community however tells a depressing story as it lacks some of the basic services found even in the remotest places.
The residents here have to walk more than 8 km to access the nearest clinic and almost three kilometres to obtain mobile phone network facilities.
The villagers are calling government and network providers to consider their plight for they said their development agenda is choking because of the absence of these key basic services.
