The under 13 Zimbabwean cricket team defended their title with 79 runs and 9 wickets over England in a mock cricket world cup match played at Alexandra Sports Club yesterday.
Zimbabwe defeated South Africa last year in the final and clinched the title for the second time in a row.
Tournament director, Cromen Zinyama said they believe a formidable cricket side relies on a firm grassroots foundation hence the staging of the invitational tournament for the young stars.
Zimbabwe’s young and upcoming all rounder Newman Nyamhuri said he is thrilled to represent the country in such a competition.
Young star Leon Nhere who will be going to Dubai for a ten day cricket tournament is part of the Zimbabwean cricket team.
The mock cricket world cup tournament which is now an annual event had six countries which are, South Africa, Australia, England, Pakistan, India and hosts Zimbabwe.
