1344: The national anthem is now being sung to mark the end of proceedings here at the National Heroes Acre.

1325: Vice President Mphoko is now leading in the laying of wreaths at Cde Mahofa’s final resting place.

1254: Cde Mphoko also highlighted Cde Mahofa’s  unwavering commitment to the liberation struggle and the advancement of national interests before and after independence.

1253:  Chronicling the history of Cde Mahofa, Vice President Mphoko said: “Cde Mahofa was a member of the National Democratic Party from 1959- 1960 and joined ZAPU in 1961. She joined Zanu PF in 1979 and has been a member to date. From 1976 to 1979 she was Zanu war collaborator. After independence she was elected Member of Parliament Gutu South a position she held from 1985-2008. She also served as Deputy Minister of Women Affairs. While she was member of parliament she chaired a number of committees including Youth and Gender Committee”.

1252: “We are distraught because we have lost our torch-bearer who was very respectful and pushed for unity in the country,” says Cde Mphoko.

                                           

1251: He added the she (Cde Mahofa) worked hand in glove with Cde Simon Mazorodze for the liberation of Zimbabwe, together they supplied medicine and clothes to freedom fighters.

1250: The Vice President said Cde Mahofa is known as the mother of all commissariats.

1248: Mai Mahofa will be greatly remembered for his works as a war collaborator in her province as she was responsible for ensuring constant supply of weapons to the ZANLA combatants during the time of struggle.

1245: “On behalf of the President, the government and on my behalf i pay my deepest condolences to the Mahofa family for their great loss,” said Cde Mphoko.

1246: He says the death of Cde Mahofa has robbed the nation of a brave, courageous and loyal cadre and the nation will be poorer without her exemplary good works.

1242: Vice President Mphoko says Cde Mahofa was well known for hardwork and championing the economic empowerment of women among other things.

1241: Vice President Mphoko is now addressing mourners and starts by observing all protocols.

1240: The Director of Ceremonies is back at the podium and invites Cde Mphoko.

1232: Nephew to the late national heroine, Reverend Togarepi Chivariro sets the stage alight here at the national shrine.

1225: He narrates the history of his grandmother saying she was a hardworking woman who fought tirelessly for the economic emancipation of women.

1223: He starts by thanking President Mugabe, the ruling party Zanu PF and the government for bestowing the national hero status upon Cde Mahofa.

1222: The Mahofa family representative, Hubert Mahofa the grandson of the late national hero Cde Mahofa is now giving his speech.

1218: A choir is now entertaining mourners here.

1214: Reverend Dr Mutsotso is now on the podium.

1213: He has invited Reverend Dr Rangarirai Mutsotso of the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe to lead with the prayer.

1210: Director of Ceremonies and Home Affairs Minister, Dr Ignatius Chombo is now on the podium and says Vice President Mphoko will lead the proceedings here at the National shrine as assigned by the President Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe who just arrived fro the 37th SADC Summit in Pretoria South Africa early this morning.

1158: The body of the late national heroine is now placed on the tomb of the unknown soldier.

1148: The body of Cde Mahofa has arrived at the National Heroes Acre in the capital accompanied by the Vice President Mphoko.

                                                   

1133: People now headed for the National Heroes Acre as well as the body of the late heroine where it will lie in state at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
