The need to identify and promote talented sport athletes at grassroots level has been cited as critical in the empowerment of youths through sport.
The idea to scout and develop youths who are talented in various sporting disciplines emerged at the Kazembe Kazembe Challenge Cup tournament that was held in Centenary.
Guest of honour at the event, Deputy President of the Senate, Chen Chimutengwende said it is important that government supports activities that promote sport development especially at grassroots level.
Mazowe West legislator, Kazembe Kazembe said such tournaments are aimed at harnessing local talent adding that in modern day, sport has become a lucrative source of living for many people across the globe and can benefit the youths locally.
The tournament saw various teams that include Siza and Gushungo participating in soccer and netball matches.
Gushungo soccer team became the overall winners walking with a trophy and US$1 200 cash.
Winners walked away with trophies and cash prices.
