The government’s revival of recreational facilities policy got a massive boost in Bulawayo’s Makokoba constituency after a United States of America based sporting organisation Soccer 4 Life Academy, held a weeklong camp to nurture and identify children under the age of 10 who are gifted in soccer.
The children were tutored by veteran soccer stars Gift Lunga Junior who is now in charge of Highlanders Football Club juniors, Johannes Ngodzo now in charge of Bantu Rovers juniors as well as Samba Rusike now head coach of How Mine developmental side.
Speaking to ZBC News on the sidelines of the training camp, US based executive director for Soccer 4 Life Academy, Zenzo Ndlovu said the training camp proved that Zimbabwe is endowed with abundant talent.
Soccer legend Rusike said the coaches identified 20 juniors who will be coached and participate in expansion projects.
The training camp saw the children forming eight teams that rotated playing and coming up with an overall winner to get some soccer kits and medals, while some outstanding individuals will soon take their talent to the United States of America’s sport development academies.
