Church hailed for supporting govt programmes

????????????????????????????????????

While government has set the agenda in the development of the country, the church too has supported the vision.

Former Finance Minister, Dr Herbert Murerwa who spoke on behalf of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa during the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe’s (MCZ) 40 years of autonomous mission, urged the church to also explore initiatives such as command agriculture as they have land which can be harnessed in the country’s quest to improve food security.

Presiding Bishop of the MCZ, Reverend Dr Solomon Zwana said the church has been on an aggressive drive to empower its congregants while also contributing to the development thrust through various infrastructure projects.

Prior to 1977, the MCZ was a mere district synod of the British conference.

The Methodist Church was planted in Zimbabwe on 29 September 1891.
