The body of the late national heroine, Cde Shuvai Ben Mahofa has arrived at One Commando Barracks in Harare, this afternoon aboard an Air Force of Zimbabwe helicopter accompanied by family members and Zanu PF Chief Whip, Cde Lovemore Matuke.
The body was received by Zanu PF Politburo member, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Central Committee and Politburo members, relatives and friends.
The late Cde Mahofa has been described as a hard working cadre whose contribution towards the economic empowerment of women will forever be cherished.
ZILIWACO chairperson and Zanu PF Central Committee member, Cde Pupurai Togarepi said they have lost a hard working cadre whose contribution to the liberation struggle was immense.
The body of the late Cde Mahofa will lie in state at her home in Greendale Harare today before burial at the National Heroes Acre tomorrow.
Tomorrow morning the body will be taken to Stodart Hall in Mbare where mourners will have an opportunity to bid farewell to the late Minister of State for Masvingo Province.
Meanwhile, a church service was held for the late national heroine at the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe in Gutu.
Government officials and family members gave glowing testimonies on the late national heroine, Cde Mahofa with her love for people being the common attribute described by all the speakers.
Her daughter Sally Mahofa said their mother single handedly raised them and ensured they received a decent education after their father’s death.
She said their mother always reminded them to treat all people with respect and strive for peace in all circumstances.
Soon after the church service the body was flown to Harare for burial tomorrow at the National Shrine.
