Mat South agric show kicks off                

The 60th edition of the Matabeleland South Agricultural Show has kicked off in Gwanda with the annual exhibition recording an increase in participants as compared to last year. Although the agricultural  show kicked off on a low note this Thursday with some exhibitors still putting final touches to their stands, the event organisers say they are happy that the number of exhibitors has increased from 86 to 107 this year. Suspected terrorists gunned down in Spain

Reports say Spanish police have shot dead five suspected terrorists in the town of Cambrils in a second vehicle attack, hours after another in Barcelona killed 13 people and injured dozens. Police said the men were linked to the Barcelona attack, which so-called Islamic State said it had carried out. Police are still hunting the man who drove his van into crowds on Las Ramblas in Barcelona on Thursday. Spanish media have named Moussa Oubakir (18) as the suspect. Zanu PF Secretary for Administration Cde Ignatius Chombo has clarified the burial date for the late national heroine Cde Shuvai Mahofa which has been set for this Sunday at the National Heroes Acre. Memorial service for killed Kenyan election official

Kenyans have held a memorial service for an election official who was found tortured and killed shortly before this month’s presidential vote. Family and friends of Christopher Msando are demanding justice. Msando was in charge of the electronic voting system and technology to prevent voter fraud and his body was found days before the election. An autopsy showed signs of torture before he was strangled. Dynamos, Highlanders Botswana trip off

Harare soccer giants Dynamos and Bulawayo side Highlanders failed to travel to Francistown, Botswana, where they were supposed to participate in a four team invitational tournament tomorrow. In separate statements, the two teams officials – Highlanders chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube and a Dynamos committee member, Graham Mafoko, said the teams failed to travel as a result of failure by the organisers of the tournament to adhere to previously agreed contractual obligations.
