Highlanders earned the bragging rights after a 2-nil victory over Dynamos in Heroes Day football action at Rufaro stadium this afternoon.

Highlanders got off to the best possible start in their Heroes encounter against Dynamos with Thabo Lunga ensuring the visitors raced into a 1-nil lead.

In a bid to restore parity, Dynamos carved some opportunities with Masimba Mambare threatening with a close range header.

Despite efforts by the Glamour Boys to level matters, Highlanders showed discipline in defence holding onto their lead getting into the breather.

Bosso could have doubled their lead after the restart but a casual approach by Thabo Lunga saw the visitors spurn a big opportunity.

Substitute Quality Kangadze came close but was denied by the Bosso rearguard.

Highlanders then threatened from range before Thembalethu Mthunzi all but sealed victory with a close range finish which ensured the Bulawayo giants won the match 2-nil.

Monday’s encounters which were organised by the Ministry of Sport and Recreation in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Football Association were part of Heroes Day celebrations.
