The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has commended the government on its policies to enhance agriculture production and built resilience to the vulnerable communities.

The WFP representative and country director, Mr Eddie Rowe paid a courtesy call to Vice President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa offices in the capital on today where he gave an update on the WFP humanitarian programmes in Zimbabwe.

Mr Rowe told the ZBC News after the meeting, the WFP is impressed with the government policies that have resulted in a good maize harvest.

He also said the Zimbabwe’s government policy to increase food security has also been endorsed by the WFP as an element that will increase socio economic development across the country.

“Such policies are key to economic development in the future,” said Mr Rowe.

The WFP has therefore pledged to continue working with the government on agricultural developmental policies.
