Mufakose sport enthusiasts will experience a sporting festival dubbed “Catch them Young” which will see school children getting an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent from the 14th to the 19th of this month.
The event which seeks to give school children an opportunity to nature their talent will see experts in hockey, soccer, basketball, cricket and netball imparting coaching skills in young stars for the benefit of the Mufakose junior policy.
Founder and director of the sports festival, Tichaona Matibiri said the festival which has now grown to be a holiday event seeks to give pupils something constructive to do during the school holidays.
Matibiri added that it is his hope to add more sporting codes to meet the National Sports and Recreation Policy requirements although they face a hindrance in equipment especially in codes like cricket considering the ballooning number of athletes coming for the festival.
The last event was held in April this year and it attracted more than 450 participants.
The August event has more than 800 pupils registered with parents welcoming the initiative.
