Six Harare armed robbery suspects, who allegedly stole property worth $55000 around the capital, have appeared in court facing charges of unlawful entry into premises in aggravating circumstances.
Interestingly, only $85 was recovered from the loot.
Liberty Mupamhanga, Aaron Nyamajiwa, Munyaradzi Chikarara, Vincent Kondo, Adam Kapalasa and Taurai Dzingai appeared before Mr Elisha Singano facing armed robbery charges.
The gang was denied bail and advised to apply at the High Court considering the seriousness of the offence they are facing and the likelihood of them skipping bail.
According to Sebastian Mutizirwa, who appeared for the state on the 25th of July 2017, the accused persons and four others who are all at large hatched a plan to rob one, Roy Gonyora.
They allegedly proceeded to number 365 Esap Way, Willowvale, Harare at Blue Circle (Pvt) Limited where they assaulted Abraham Mangezi, a security guard at the premises, and stabbed him on the left shoulder before tying him.
The accused, who were armed with iron bars and machetes, allegedly broke into the cashier’s office and removed a wall-mounted safe which contained $7000.
They further allegedly proceeded to the Director’s office where they allegedly broke the safe open and got away with $48000.
On exiting the premises, the gang allegedly stole a grey Toyota Hilux vehicle, registration number AAJ 5146 belonging to the complainant and escaped.
Last Sunday the 6th of August, detectives on the case nabbed Munyaradzi Chikara who after interrogation implicated his partners.
A cash safe was recovered in Kuwadzana, while $85 was recovered from Liberty Mupamhanga.
