Harare’s Glen View was turned into a spectacle as a provincial drummies teams lit up the high density suburb for a competition that was eventually won by Zengeza 1 High School.
The third year edition of the provincial drummies competition brought colour to Glen View 2 High School as 21 drum majorette groups from various schools competed for honours.
In the end Zengeza 1 High emerged overall winners while hosts Glen View 2 were runners up and Dzivarasekwa 1 High coming third.
The chairperson for drummies National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) Harare Province, Ms Gladys Sithole said the competitions are growing with every year.
One of the judges Ms Mary Chimuperu noted the adjudication process considers various aspects among them uniforms, smiles and handling efficiency.
Participants said the drum majorettes refreshes their minds away from the busy classroom work.
A few secondary and primary schools around the country have taken drum majorettes as a sport which is highly regarded as a preserve for girls.
