Acting President Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has hailed the services being offered by the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and revealed government shall soon be partnering the institution in its command agriculture programme.

The Acting President during his command agriculture provincial tours said the research institution holds a special place in the food security sector not only for Zimbabwe but also for the entire SADC region where it is resuscitating disappearing grains.

Cde Mnangagwa noted government will be pouring more resources to support the research institution and bring it on board for the command agriculture programme.

While success has been scored in maize production and other big cash crops, the small grain sector has however not been getting enough attention mainly due to limited market space and absence of certified seed varieties to support commercial production for the organic crops.
